Technology Clock

Yesterday I finished making my clock in technology! It has lots of little blocks stuck on it randomly and has heaps of colour! It took me ages to sand all of the pieces but I finally got it done and I am very proud of it! Technology is over for the year, so I can't wait until next year!

Preparing for N-Rock

N-Rock is exactly 6 days away!! We are nervously preparing, sorting out costumes and props, and of course practising our dance. Our dance is about a boy who is trialing for a basketball team, and doesn't get in. When he gets upset, the "encouragers" come and try to cheer him up and help him get better at Basketball. in the end he gets better and is accepted into the team. Our I CARE value is excellence- never give up trying. I am an encourager. I cannot wait until next Tuesday! I hope everything goes to plan.
In class we made advertisements, and I made one for N-Rock- here it is.

Term 4 Week 6 Weekly Reflection

This Week.....

I enjoyed:
Breaking the board in Tae-Kwondo!

I learnt:
How to do the rest of my N-Rock dance!

I am proud of:
Getting all of my blocks for my Clock in tech painted and glued onto my backboard.

I need to improve on:
Getting our N-Rock dance perfect!

Next week I am looking forward to:
Technology, because hopefully I'll finish my clock!

Tae-Kwondo

Today we had our last session of Tae-Kwondo, with John, a Martial Arts instructor. We had 8 weeks of lessons, kicking, punching and learning to have discipline. Today we had to use our Kicking knowledge to break a board!! It wasn't an actually block of wood, it was kinds of plastic, and it was could be broken in half, then clipped back together again. I did the second easiest board, and I kicked it without hurting my toes! Which I am glad of.
I had fun at Tae-Kwondo, and I wish we had more lessons!

Week 5 Weekly Reflection Term 4

This week I enjoyed...
Technology, even though it took me ages to paint! Because I had to paint 121 little pieces of wood white, and then do a second layer!! It took me the whole lesson, but at least I got it done.

I am proud of...
Athletics, for getting into Hauraki Plains for 200 and 80m.

Next Week I am looking forward to...
Hauraki Plains Athletics!

Athletics

Athletics.

A light drizzle of rain sprinkled down from the sky, putting little droplets of water on our clothes. I looked up at the dull, grey sky. What a great day for Athletics!
My first event was long jump, I waited in the line as the 12+ girls in front of me had their turn. When it was my go, I took a long, deep breath, ran up to the sandpit as fast as I could go, then at the mat, I leapt off like I was the final act in a ballet dance, and flew through the air. I landed on two feet, and I fell forward, my hands feeling the moist, hard sand.
"Nice jump!" I heard Mrs Barker say, as I got up. "3.83" She said.
'Yes! My best jump so far!' I said in my head. My heart was jumping and dancing around happily.
Next I had shotput, an event I was never good at. Once again, I waited in line, and at my turn, I picked up the extra-heavy shot-put ball, and held it up to my neck. I side stept forward a bit, then threw the ball as far as I could. It wasn't too bad- 4.40. My other two throws were 4.30 and 4.11.
Afterwards was my favourite event- sprints! We started with the 80m heats, I was extraordinarily nervous as I waited.
"Take your mark." Mr Fraser called, we walked up to the line.
"Get set" Some of us crouched, I just bent down a little.
And the the he clapped the clapper.
I ran as fast as I could, as fast as I have ever gone before. I looked directly at the finish line, thinking of nothing but the race.
It was close between Yvonne, Isabella and I, but I got 4th or 5th, but I still made it to the finals!
In the 80m finals, I was more nervous than before, because I was competing against some of the fastest girls in the school!
The clapper went again, and I sprinted, possibly harder then before, I had to get into the top six to go to Hauraki Plains. I was lucky enough, because I got 6th!

Then it was the 800m, which I'm not that good at as I am better at Sprints, I think.  I ended up coming 7th.
Last was the 200m sprints. Once again, I was nervous, the clapper went and sprinted, past everyone, but I could still feel Courtney and Kennidy catching up to me. I sprinted harder, and to my surprise- I got 1st!!
In the finals, I got 5th, so I made it to Hauraki Plains for that event!
As it was a wet and rainy day, High jump was post-poned until the next day. I was surprised and proud of myself  because I made it past 1 metre, and I didn't last time we practiced  I didn't get into the top 3 though.

It was a really fun day, even though the weather was miserable, and I can't wait until Hauraki Plains!

A new book

This term, for lit. circles, I am reading A long way home, which so far is about a boy, George, who is sent to a family as he is an orphan, and at first he hates it, but then there are heaps of crisis and he learns to care for the family. At the moment, I am up to when the family's mother is in hospital, and the father and two kids aren't coping on the farm, so the father wants to send the kids to Grandma and Grandpa's house, but they will have to send George back, and George doesn't want to.

Term 4 Week 4 Weekly Reflection

This week I enjoyed...
Technology, because I got far ahead on my clock, even though I still have a lot to do! I also enjoyed practicing for N-Rock, because our group works well, and we know the dance off by heart, we just have to work on the timing, and making the dance perfect!

I am proud of...
Long Jump (Practice for athletics) because my highest was 3.79 which is good for me! A few weeks ago I was getting around 3.38, so I have improved heaps!

I learnt....
How to simplify ratio's and multiply decimal numbers by 10, 100, 1000 etc, in maths.

Next week I am looking forward to...
Athletics on Monday, because I think I will do OK, I have been practising my hardest lately, so hopefully everything pays off!
