"Do what you like and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."

Week 8 Weekly reflection

What a week it's been!! Tuesday was N-Rock and that was super fun! I am very proud of our class for a really good performance!
Thursday was the year 8 dinner and I was a waitress, it was really fun seeing all the girls awesome dresses, and we had to show people to their tables, hand out drinks and clear the tables, also seeing the year 8 video was really funny! It was a late night so I was very tired the next day! I have also completed my art- I will upload a photo of that soon!
Next week is the last week of school, I am actually sad about that because I have to say goodbye to the year 8's, and I have LOVED my class (the incredible minds) this year, we have had soooooooooooooooo much fun! :)
Prizegiving is next week, I'm excited about that becuase I am performing in the jazz band, school choir and suzanne prentice choir.

Whew! Well the holidays are coming up, and it's christmas time! Underneath our christmas tree is strangely empty......

N-Rock

Plus-
Everyone turned up and Ben didn't drop the ball at the start, like he did in rehearsal!

Minus-
Everyone kept talking backstage when we were supposed to be quiet.

Interesting-
Seeing all the other classes N-Rock, and seeing the audience's reaction.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I enjoyed performing on stage because it was fun showing the audience what we have been working on for the past term, and it was exciting with all the lights!

I would change the start bit of the Encouragers dance when we first come onto the stage. I think we should of been more encouraging, and make the dance reflect to the words of the song.

Week 7 weekly reflection Term 4

This Week....

I enjoyed:
The N-Rock dress-rehersal, I think our class went really well, and it was so fun!

I am proud of:
Finishing my clock in wood technology- I think it looks great!

Next week I am looking forward to:
The N-Rock performance on Tuesday night :) We have been working so hard all term! I also can't wait to see the little kids performance, I think they will be so cute!

Technology Clock

Yesterday I finished making my clock in technology! It has lots of little blocks stuck on it randomly and has heaps of colour! It took me ages to sand all of the pieces but I finally got it done and I am very proud of it! Technology is over for the year, so I can't wait until next year!

Preparing for N-Rock

N-Rock is exactly 6 days away!! We are nervously preparing, sorting out costumes and props, and of course practising our dance. Our dance is about a boy who is trialing for a basketball team, and doesn't get in. When he gets upset, the "encouragers" come and try to cheer him up and help him get better at Basketball. in the end he gets better and is accepted into the team. Our I CARE value is excellence- never give up trying. I am an encourager. I cannot wait until next Tuesday! I hope everything goes to plan.
In class we made advertisements, and I made one for N-Rock- here it is.

Term 4 Week 6 Weekly Reflection

This Week.....

I enjoyed:
Breaking the board in Tae-Kwondo!

I learnt:
How to do the rest of my N-Rock dance!

I am proud of:
Getting all of my blocks for my Clock in tech painted and glued onto my backboard.

I need to improve on:
Getting our N-Rock dance perfect!

Next week I am looking forward to:
Technology, because hopefully I'll finish my clock!

Tae-Kwondo

Today we had our last session of Tae-Kwondo, with John, a Martial Arts instructor. We had 8 weeks of lessons, kicking, punching and learning to have discipline. Today we had to use our Kicking knowledge to break a board!! It wasn't an actually block of wood, it was kinds of plastic, and it was could be broken in half, then clipped back together again. I did the second easiest board, and I kicked it without hurting my toes! Which I am glad of.
I had fun at Tae-Kwondo, and I wish we had more lessons!

Week 5 Weekly Reflection Term 4

This week I enjoyed...
Technology, even though it took me ages to paint! Because I had to paint 121 little pieces of wood white, and then do a second layer!! It took me the whole lesson, but at least I got it done.

I am proud of...
Athletics, for getting into Hauraki Plains for 200 and 80m.

Next Week I am looking forward to...
Hauraki Plains Athletics!

Athletics

Athletics.

A light drizzle of rain sprinkled down from the sky, putting little droplets of water on our clothes. I looked up at the dull, grey sky. What a great day for Athletics!
My first event was long jump, I waited in the line as the 12+ girls in front of me had their turn. When it was my go, I took a long, deep breath, ran up to the sandpit as fast as I could go, then at the mat, I leapt off like I was the final act in a ballet dance, and flew through the air. I landed on two feet, and I fell forward, my hands feeling the moist, hard sand.
"Nice jump!" I heard Mrs Barker say, as I got up. "3.83" She said.
'Yes! My best jump so far!' I said in my head. My heart was jumping and dancing around happily.
Next I had shotput, an event I was never good at. Once again, I waited in line, and at my turn, I picked up the extra-heavy shot-put ball, and held it up to my neck. I side stept forward a bit, then threw the ball as far as I could. It wasn't too bad- 4.40. My other two throws were 4.30 and 4.11.
Afterwards was my favourite event- sprints! We started with the 80m heats, I was extraordinarily nervous as I waited.
"Take your mark." Mr Fraser called, we walked up to the line.
"Get set" Some of us crouched, I just bent down a little.
And the the he clapped the clapper.
I ran as fast as I could, as fast as I have ever gone before. I looked directly at the finish line, thinking of nothing but the race.
It was close between Yvonne, Isabella and I, but I got 4th or 5th, but I still made it to the finals!
In the 80m finals, I was more nervous than before, because I was competing against some of the fastest girls in the school!
The clapper went again, and I sprinted, possibly harder then before, I had to get into the top six to go to Hauraki Plains. I was lucky enough, because I got 6th!

Then it was the 800m, which I'm not that good at as I am better at Sprints, I think.  I ended up coming 7th.
Last was the 200m sprints. Once again, I was nervous, the clapper went and sprinted, past everyone, but I could still feel Courtney and Kennidy catching up to me. I sprinted harder, and to my surprise- I got 1st!!
In the finals, I got 5th, so I made it to Hauraki Plains for that event!
As it was a wet and rainy day, High jump was post-poned until the next day. I was surprised and proud of myself  because I made it past 1 metre, and I didn't last time we practiced  I didn't get into the top 3 though.

It was a really fun day, even though the weather was miserable, and I can't wait until Hauraki Plains!

A new book

This term, for lit. circles, I am reading A long way home, which so far is about a boy, George, who is sent to a family as he is an orphan, and at first he hates it, but then there are heaps of crisis and he learns to care for the family. At the moment, I am up to when the family's mother is in hospital, and the father and two kids aren't coping on the farm, so the father wants to send the kids to Grandma and Grandpa's house, but they will have to send George back, and George doesn't want to.

Term 4 Week 4 Weekly Reflection

This week I enjoyed...
Technology, because I got far ahead on my clock, even though I still have a lot to do! I also enjoyed practicing for N-Rock, because our group works well, and we know the dance off by heart, we just have to work on the timing, and making the dance perfect!

I am proud of...
Long Jump (Practice for athletics) because my highest was 3.79 which is good for me! A few weeks ago I was getting around 3.38, so I have improved heaps!

I learnt....
How to simplify ratio's and multiply decimal numbers by 10, 100, 1000 etc, in maths.

Next week I am looking forward to...
Athletics on Monday, because I think I will do OK, I have been practising my hardest lately, so hopefully everything pays off!

Water Book Review

Water- By Geoff Havel.

This term I read the book Water. Water is about a girl named Tully who is forbidden to go into the water. When she is kidnapped, she learns why, when she enters the water, she turns green, and is able to live and breathe underwater. Tully was "created" by her father and Bill, but was taken away to Rivertown with her father, once her father learnt Bill's evil plans.
The story takes place in a secret location, far away from anywhere.

I rated this book a 8/10 because it is entertaining and keeps you hooked most of the way through, except for a few bits that just drags on and gets boring. This book would be good for both girls and boys, aged 10 or older.

Weekly Reflection Week 1 T4

This week I have enjoyed Tech because we started to make our clocks. I am very proud of my design because it is unique and different, and Mr Davies liked it too!
I learnt how to subtract decimals in maths, and I learnt many different strategies for it so it is really easy now!
Next week I am looking forward to practising for athletics more, especially sprints!

Term 4

It's the start of Term 4!! In the holidays my family and I went to Taupo for three nights. We went up the mountain (Mt Ruapehu) and played in the snow, we made snowmen, had snow fights and went sledding. It was really fun! We also went kayaking down the waikato river, and we saw some people bungee jumping off a cliff- scary! Then halfway through our Kayak trip we relaxed in a natural hot spring. It was almost too hot to stay in for long! I had a very fun trip!

This term is athletics, and I am looking forward to sprints because it is really fun and I did quite well last year! I am also looking forward to N-Rock because I am part of the Dance Crew and I can't wait to see the final product!!

It's going to be a busy term but in 9 weeks there are holidays!

Term 3 Highlights

Term 3 Highlights

Speeches
This term, I created a speech about why it sucks to have parents as teachers. It is very relevant to me because I do have a mother and father who are teachers, and sometimes I don’t like them being teachers. It took me ages to write it and edit it until I thought it was perfect, and hadn’t missed anything out. I then put it on cue-cards then practised, practised, practised! I presented it to the class, and got voted along with Declan, Maddy and Lucy from my class to get into the next round. Once I presented it again, Mrs Hull choose 2 people from the whole syndicate to go into the Hauraki Plains speech finals. Mitchell Harris and I got into it! On the night, I was very nervous, and when I started speaking, it was like I could only hear myself speaking, and no-one else could. So I spoke louder. I think I did a good job, and people laughed in the funny parts. And guess what? I ended up winning out of the year 7&8 category! I won a $25 gift voucher for Carson’s bookshop. I am so proud of myself!

Winter Sports
This season, I played Netball as a winter sport. I got into Ngatea 2, and throughout the season, our team got to know each other well. The positions I played were goal shoot and wing attack. I enjoyed WA more but I think I was better at GS. I practised and trained really hard to get better at it. Our team ended up winning EVERY game except 3- two against Ngatea 1, and one against Turua 1- the two top teams. So I am very proud of my team’s effort. At prize-giving, I got the most improved award, which I am proud of because it means I really did train hard, and I have got better! Our team got 3rd place in the whole season of Hauraki Plains netball.

TV Central
Sophie and I carried on with TV central this term, as well as the two new journalists, Samantha and Carla. There were many stories to cover, such as badminton, room 12 inquiry, gymsport and room 5 documentary. As we did more, we got much better at writing scripts and filming. At some points it was tough because we had to fit in TV central with all our other school work, and sometimes we left the scripts to the last minute, so we were pushing our schedules! If I didn’t finish work in school, I usually finished it at home. Sophie and I are retiring from TV Central, which is sad because I have really enjoyed it and definitely got much better at it. TV Central has made me want to become a proper journalist when I’m older, so hopefully I will be doing more of journalism.

(Youtube video)
Lyrics/figurative Language task
During term 3, we learnt about figurative language, and recognised it in songs. So we had to get into partners, or by ourselves, and find songs with the different figurative language in it. This included Metaphors, similes, imagery, onomatopoeia, personification, alliteration, idioms and hyperboles. Once we had found all our songs, we made a presentation on Windows movie maker with our songs and what figurative language they had in them. Mrs Hull marked our presentation out of 5. Kennidy and I were the only ones who scored a 5/5! I am very proud of it, and I think we did a great job!

My song Lyrics

These are my own original lyrics to the tune of "We are never ever getting back together" By Taylor Swift.

I remember when we were 5, we were like
two grains of sand on a beach, the same
playing little fairy princess games
and believing we could fly

Now we gossip, talk, joke and laugh
But, we have so much fun all the same, don’t we?
understanding each other every way
I’d say one word, and you get everything that I think.
oohhh, you’ve been my friend forever, yeah
oohhh, and we’ll always, always, always,
be friends forever and ever, until we die
be friends forever and ever, until we die

You’re the sun and I’m the moon, I don’t  wanna ever lose you
be friends forever and ever and ever, until we die.
like always
A friend is your secret second soul
they are, basically living in control
of you
friends are diamonds precious and rare,
false friends are leaves scattered everywhere.

oohhh, you’ve been my friend forever, yeah
oohhh, and we’ll always, always, always
be friends forever and ever, until we die
be friends forever and ever, until we die

You’re the sun and I’m the moon, I don’t  wanna ever lose you
be friends forever and ever and ever, until we die.
Think of all, the fun times we’ve had together
Imagine life, without each other.
-
be friends forever and ever, until we die
be friends forever and ever, and ever, until we die

You’re the sun and I’m the moon, I don’t  ever wanna lose you
be friends forever and ever, , and ever until we die
Be ooh, oooh, friends forever, be, oh, friends forever
You’re the sun and I’m the moon, I don’t  ever wanna lose you
be friends forever and ever, and ever until we die

Week 9 reflection

This week I enjoyed Thursday- because it was the Te Puru 7's! I played netball with my Ngatea 2 team and Lucy and Aldene were added too. In our first game, I played GA and GS. I fell over and now I have a graze and bruise on my knee- it's sore! We won the game 13-5. In our second game I played GS, and we won 11-2! In our last game I played GS and GA again, and we won 20-1! So we got into the finals, we played a higher team than us. I played WA, but we lost 9-5. Oh well, Ngatea 1 got into the finals, and it was a draw at the end (9 all) So they went into extra time and the other team won 11-9. It was a really fun day!

Netball Prizegiving

Last night we had Ngatea netball prize giving. As a team, our team won most improved! Individuality I won the most improved award! I have a trophy that sits on my dresser and a medal that hangs on my mirror. I am so proud!

Hauraki Plains Cross Country

Last week on Monday it was Hauraki Plains Cross Country. I was really nervous! Halfway through the day, it started POURING down with rain! Everyone was huddling under umbrellas and some people were running! Luckily I wasn't! The rain finally stopped just as I was about to run. It was hilarious as we ran down the small slope, everyone was falling down and sliding in the mud! Even I did at one point! In the end I got 9th place, not into Thames Valley but I am still proud of my efforts!

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Week 5 reflection

This week I enjoyed....

Cross country! It was kinda hard, especially the big hill! It was also very muddy and slippery! At the final little bit, I was neck and neck with Jesse, and then Jesse started sprinting really hard at the finish line and she ended up coming 4th, and me 5th! So I made it into Hauraki Plains! I am so proud of myself!

I also enjoyed Friday room 7 because we started investigating careers we would love to do when we are older. We had to think of 3, and look into what school subjects we have to take and what degrees are required. My top 3 are...

  • Journalist
  • Author
  • Teacher
It was really fun!

Wake me up- Ed Sheeran

This is my favorite song- Wake me up by Ed Sheeran

I should ink my skin with your name
And take my passport out again
And just replace it
See I could do without a tan
On my left hand,
Where my fourth finger meets my knuckle
And I should run you a hot bath
Fill it up with bubbles

'Cause maybe you're loveable
Maybe you're my snowflake
And your eyes turn from green to gray
And in the winter I'll hold you in a cold place
And you should never cut your hair
'Cause I love the way you flick it off your shoulder

And you will never know
Just how beautiful you are to me
But maybe I'm just in love
When you wake me up

And would you ever feel guilty if you did the same to me
Could you make me a cup of tea
To open my eyes in the right way
And I know you love Shrek
Because we've watched it 12 times
And maybe we're hoping for a fairytale too
And if your DVD breaks today
You should've got a VCR
Because I've never owned a blue ray, true say

I know I've always been shit at computer games
Because your brother always beats me
And if I lost, I go across and chuck all the controllers at the TV
And then you laugh at me
And be asking me
If I'ma be home next week
And then you lie with me till I fall asleep
And flutter eye lash on my cheek between the sheets

And you will never know
Just how beautiful you are to me
But maybe I'm just in love
When you wake me up

And I think you hate the smell of smoke
You always try to get me to stop
But you drink as much as me
And I get drunk a lot
So I take you to the beach
And walk along the sand
And I'll make you a heart pendant
With a pebble held in my hand
And I'll carve it like this necklace
So the heart falls where your chest is
Now a piece of me is a piece of the beach
And it falls just where it needs to be
And rests peacefully
So you just need to breathe to feel my heart against yours now
Against yours now
Maybe I'm just in love when you wake me up
Maybe I'm just in love when you wake me up
Maybe I fell in love when you woke me up

Week 4 Weekly Reflection

This week I enjoyed...
Tech, because we finished making our drawstring bags, and I got to paint mine. Mine is yellow with a blue flower and a green flower and it has Soph on it.
Next week I am looking forward to...
Cross Country! It is on Monday and I have been training for ages so I hope I make it to Hauraki Plains!

Mileage book

This is my new mileage book:
This term I started to read “The Dead of the Night” It is by John Marsden and the second book in the Tomorrow series. In the last book, 7 teenagers went camping out in the deep forest where no-one’s ever been before (Called Hell) and when they came back they realized they had been invaded. They took everything they needed and returned to hell. Now in the second book they are still in Hell, waiting for 2 friends to come back from the hospital (It is still running) Because one got shot while they were out in the city. I can’t wait to read the rest!

My poem

This is a poem I made about my dog Millie:

Her eyes glow in the daytime light,
Her paws dig with all their might.
Her tongue licks your lovely lips
Her long legs jump, run and skip.

Her ears flop up and down,
Her fur has spots of light brown.
Her tail looks like it got a fright,
Her nose could sniff and sniff all night.

Even though she is naughty,
My dog makes me so happy.
I am very glad to have her here,
Cause’ she makes me smile whenever she’s near.

Week 3 reflection

This week I enjoyed playing handball in PE with Mrs Kennedy. I have never played Handball before and it is really fast and fun!
I also enjoyed watching the HPC play "The Itallian Straw Hat" It was really well done and very funny!
This week I learned how to sew properly! In sewing we are making bags and I learnt how to thread the machine and sew straight.
Next week I am looking forward to playing handball again!

OLYMPICS!

The Olympics have started in London! So far NZ have got a bronze team medal from Equestrian, A bronze from rowing and.... A GOLD FROM ROWING!! It was won by Nathan Cohen and Joesph Sullivan, who were coming 5th in the double skulls, then in the last few 100 m, they sprinted up to the front! I am so proud to be a kiwi! More rowing finals are tonight, and soon it is shot-put and Valarie Adams will be competing, so hopefully more Gold medals to come!

Week 2 Reflection

This week I enjoyed cross country training because it was really fun running and getting all muddy! The most amount of laps I did was 2.

I learnt how to write a poem and use my feelings.

Term 2 Evaluations

Maths:
For maths, I think I need to work more on fractions, decimals and percentages. I don’t understand how to change most decimals into fractions and vice versa. I would like to try doing statistics, and graphing, collecting information and turning it into a graph. Next term I am looking forward to starting Algebra, because It’s some new learning I’ve never done!

Writing:
One of my goals for writing is to use more figuragtive language (such as similes, metaphors and personification.) I have been trying really hard on it, and hopefully I can complete that goal next term. I would like to learn some more styles of writing, and maybe even write our own narratives. Next term I am looking forward to writing some more, and make my writing even more interesting!

Reading:
Next term, I need to manage my time more, with-out rushing! A-lot of times I leave things to the last minute, or muck around and end-up having to rush my work. If I have TV central or something like that, I need to finish my work at home so I can catch up. Next term I am looking forward to reading more books!

The arts
I think I am very confident in drama, singing and dance. Much more than I used to. This term I have succeed in leading the class in dance, and being a “main character” in drama. Next term hopefully we can do more drama because I love it and it really gives me confidence!

Visual Art
Last term I didn’t finish my art on time, so when I’m doing art this term, I have to really manage my time well, take my time, don’t rush and try to get things finished on time! Hopefully I get a chance next term to do more art and actually finish it on time!!

PE
We did AFL this term. When we played games on Friday, I think I could of been more involved with the game. I have good sportsmanship, but I need to call for the ball more often and “hold” other players.

Weekly Reflection week 1 Term 3

This week I learnt about poems, what they are and how to write some.
Next week I am looking forward to.... Helping Amber with reading, peer mediator duties, office monitor duties and starting cross country training :)

Term 2 Evaluation

TERM 2 HIGHLIGHTS

Roles/Responsibilities
This term, along with the other Pukeko Post leader, Sophie.M, and Courtney, Mitchell and lots of other people, I was part of the Central TV Crew. My job was to find stories around Ngatea Primary School, write them into a script, film it and do voice overs for it. Each week, our school has a “NPS news” episode, and our stories go into those episodes. It is great fun, seeing our work on TV every week, and sometimes our face! This job also helps me with improving my writing, because I have learnt a new technique!

What I enjoyed
I really enjoyed Tech this term because I was in cooking class, and I love cooking! Some of the things we made were disgusting, but it was still super fun making it! Other things, such as Fasta Pasta and Fairy Cupcakes were absolutely delicious! All term I had so much fun learning new ways of cooking, tasting and describing my food. I wonder what Tech class I will be in next term?

New experince
A new experience for me this term would be working for TV central. I learnt all about filming and script writing which I never knew about or ever experienced before! I really enjoy it though, not only because it’s something new, but because I love filming and being around the camera. I also love writing so this job has been so cool for me!

Winter sports
I have played Netball for Ngatea 2 this season. My main positions are WA and sometimes GS or GA. It’s really fun playing because I haven’t played netball at all while I’ve been overseas, and it has been fun going to practises and playing on a saturday morning, because I love playing netball!

Suzanne Prentice Choir

Suzanne Prentice
I have joined the Suzanne Prentice Choir which is a special choir that will be doing this show in November with other schools, singing with Suzanne Prentice. We have to learn a lot of songs but this one is my favorite:
HEY BABY
Hey, hey, baby     (Oh, Ah)
I wanna know if you'll be my girl (2,3,4,5,6,7,8)
Hey, hey, baby      (Oh, Ah)
I wanna know if you'll be my girl

When I saw you walking down the street
I said that she's the kind of girl I like to me
She is so pretty, look she's fine
I'm gonna make her mine, oh, mine

Hey, hey, baby     (Oh, Ah)
I wanna know if you'll be my girl
Hey, hey, baby     (Oh, Ah)
I wanna know if you'll be my girl

When you turn and walk away
That's where I want to say
Come on, baby, give me a world
I wanna know, I wanna know

When you turn and walk away
That's where I want to say
Come on, baby, give me a world
I wanna know if you be my girl

Hey, hey, baby     (Oh, Ah)
I wanna know if you'll be my girl
Hey, hey, baby     (Oh, Ah)
I wanna know if you'll be my girl
If you'll be my girl
If you'll be my girl

Book review

WAR HORSE

This book is War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. From 1-10, I rate this book a 7. It can be very intense and have moments when you can’t believe what you’re reading, but other times it just drags on and gets boring. The book is about a horse- Joey, who is sold to a farm then later taken to France to be in the war. The horse survives many attacks, but sees close friends die before his eyes. I’d say this book is for the ages of 11-14.

reading millage response

I am reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry accidentally blew his aunt up, so he ran away from home, and he was picked up from the Knight Bus and taken to the leaky cauldron, where he learnt that Sirius Black, a mass-murderer from the wizard prison, Azkaban, had broken out of prison to find and kill Harry Potter. On the train to Hogwarts, a dementor, a guard from Azkaban, searched the train to find Sirius Black, and made Harry faint, whereas no-one else did. Harry is back at school, with the best defense against the dark arts teacher ever- Professor Lupin.

Term 1 Evaluation

Roles/Responsibilities.

At the start of this year, we had the chance to apply for two leadership positions. My first choice was a pukeko post leader, and my second choice was a Liaison leader. I got the position as a pukeko post leader with Sophie.M. I am really enjoying it because I get to decide what can go into the pukeko post, and also I get to write articles myself, which I enjoy. In week 4 of term 2, I am also starting a T.V news show for NPS on Central T.V Sophie.M, Mitchell.H courtney.B and I have the chance to write the news articles and be the presenters. I really love being the Pukeko Post team leader!

What I enjoyed
This term, I enjoyed going to Whenuikite camp. It was so fun because the activities such as the high ropes course and the kayaking was something I hardly ever do, and I really enjoyed them, especially the big swing in the high ropes course, which was scary at the start but super fun afterwards! Apart from camp, I also enjoyed my first term at Tech, where I was in Metal with all my friends! We made small dog tags, then the rest of the term we worked on a project making small tool boxes. I learnt heaps of stuff such as how to use different machines and tools. The third thing I enjoyed was going to Huntly College and learning A Maori Cultural song and poi dance, and also learning to ride the waka and biking around the lake.

Events
The events I did this term was going on the Whenukite camp, going to the Huntly College leadership day, swimming sports and Hauraki plains swimming sports, and also dressing up in bright colours for the easter day. I am very proud for getting into Hauraki Plains Swimming Sports, even if it was only for one thing.

New Learning
This term I learnt about the different endangered animals in New Zealand such as the dotterel, I also learnt about the different machines, tools and how to use them in Metal at Tech. In maths, I learnt how to round decimals to the nearest 10th 100th and 1000th.

Funny things
The funniest thing that happened last year was on camp when we were doing the skits. It was the teacher’s skit and Ms Karl, Ms Kennedy, Mrs Hull and Ms Robertson were lip syncing and playing a fake guitar, then all of a sudden, Mr O’Neill came out in a hula skirt and a hula flower necklace! It was hilarious how he was dancing and pretending to sing. Everyone cracked up laughing!

Likes/Dislikes
This term I liked being a year 7 because we got to apply for leadership positions, go to tech and get special privileges such as being able to go down to tech with no teachers, and going on the domain at lunchtimes and break times.
I disliked nothing! I thought this term was really fun every day, trying new things and learning new things. Along with many different experiences!

Sports and activities
I was in the writing club with a man named Peter, who is a published author. I thought It was really cool because it was an opportunity to expand my writing skills further, as I want to be an author when I’m older. I also did try-outs for netball and got into Ngatea 2, and this term (Term 2) We are starting games.

Representing the school in....
I represented the school in Hauraki Plains swimming, where I had to swim 1 length backstroke.

Term 1 Evaluation.

Multiple Intelligences

What have you learnt about how you learn?
I have learnt that I learn best independently, working by myself so I can concentrate easier.

What are your learning smarts and how are you going to use them to aid your learning this Term?
Some of my smarts are people smart, which means I work well with others, nature smart, which is knowing and caring a lot for the environment, and myself smart, which means I can work well by myself. I think that being people smart and myself smart will help me work as a team and independently for things like inquiry and maths. Being nature smart will help me with my inquiry because we are doing it on animal protection, animal reserve parks and zoos.

What is something you need to improve on?
I would like to improve on being more visual/spatial smart and being more musical smart.

Holidays

In my holidays I went to Rotorua for a night. We went on the Luge and we went to Rainbow springs- on the new ride called the Big Splash. Apart from Rotorua, we went to my grandparents house for a few nights, while we were there, there was a huge fire on the mountains, the fire engines had to come! There is now a huge black spot there. I had a really awesome holiday!

Term 2!

It's the start of a new term! This term I am excited about being a writer/reporter in Central TV! NPS has a 3 min slot 3 times a week, and Sophie, Courtney, Mitchell and I have to come up with stories around the school. I can't wait to get started! I am also excited about the National Young Leaders Day in May in Manakau, Auckland.

Waka Ama Huntly Trip

"7,8,9,hope! One more stroke and change!" Called Josh, our guide in the Waka. This was one of the activities we did with Huntly College on Thursday the 22nd of March. Ngatea Primary School had the awesome opportunity to travel up Huntly, and do some really fun activities with help from the Huntly College students.
We entered the college in the morning, and was welcomed in with a powhiri by the students. After their performance, we stood up and sang our sch0ol song "We Care." Next, we were split up into two groups, some stayed in the hall to learn the Maori songs, and others went down to the lake to do Waka Ama and mountain biking.
The Waka Ama was challenging, you had to have the strength of a professional weightlifter, and you had to keep in time with your teammates in order for the Waka to go fast. For the mountain biking, we had to ride around the lake, then do a challenge where you had ride around poles and up a small hill, to get the fastest time.
After a lunch of sausages & bread, the groups switched. This time our group was split into to; the boys learnt the Haka, and the girls learnt the Maori song and poi actions. The song was made up the night before to the tune of "Price Tag" by Jessie J. Most of us found the poi action hard, but the song, even though it was in Maori, it was surprisingly easy to learn.

At the end of the day, we had to perform what we had learnt from the Maori songs and the Haka.
We said goodbye to Huntly College at about 2:30 and then we left.
All of us had a lot of fun, and learnt heaps! It was a fantastic day that we will remember forever!

Mileage book reflection.

I have finished Tum Tum and Nutmeg and the Pirates Treasure. In the end, they manage to escape by tricking the rats to eat the chocolate with lots of alcohol in it that Lucy and Arthur send them- it gets them really drunk and they escape.

Week 8 reflection

This week I enjoyed going to Huntly and doing the Waka Ama, it was really fun because I have never done it before, and I learnt heaps! Next week is camp, and I am really looking forward to it because it will be my first New Zealand camp! I'm really excited about doing the high ropes course.

week 7 weekly reflection

This week I enjoyed drama, where one person was the host of the party, and the rest were guests, with different colored hats, each hat represents how they act, I was the red hat, which meant I always acted with feelings and emotions.

week 5 weekly reflection

I enjoyed metal at Tech because we started to make tool boxes, we had to design them, then we had to measure out the sheet of aluminium. I also really enjoyed Tech because Mr Chivers is really funny!

Hauraki Plains Swimming Sports

On Monday the 5th of March, it was the Hauraki Plains Swimming Sports day. The schools attending were Ngatea Primary School, Turua School, TK collage, Waitukaruru Primary, Kerepahi school. Everyone from Ngatea were very enthusiastic and very supportive towards other. Everyone cheered, shouted "Go Ngatea!" Some people had 5 races, whilst others only had 2, but all the same, everyone had fun. For my races, I did 2 length freestyle, and 1 length backstroke. For freestyle, I was compete-ting against other schools and Ngatea. I came 3rd! For backstroke, I was competing again against other school and Ngatea, and for that, I came 2nd! I am really proud of my efforts!
HP Swimming Sports was such hot day, everyone was participating and having lots of fun!

MI test

I am mostly myself smart, which means I know myself well and prefer to work independently.
Also, I am people smart, So I like to be in groups and I try to see and help other people with their feelings or see their point of view.
Picture smart is the least. I am not very arty and visual.

This week I really enjoyed doing the Gruffalo play in Room 9 because it was really cool to see everyone acting as animals and trying to make the right animal noises. I also saw some shy people step out of their shells and become a different character.
